High School Classrooms should not exceed 20 students.

Each one of us know that it is easier to learn one on one with someone then in a group setting where you are expected to learn at the pace of all the others in the group with you. If the teacher has less students to try a focus on she is more likely to notice if one student is struggling and be able to offer extra help to that or those students. This will help keep the students from feeling frastraded and in over all help lower the numbers of High School drops outs.

“Pushing the Hot Buttons”

My thought of each story defiantly differs from one another.

Still Needing the F Word I found to be quite interesting and very agreeable. Women of today’s generations are fighting a battle that cannot be won. Expected to have a higher education to qualify for any job that pays well enough to support her growing family at the same time trying to with hold control of a household. The quote from the author Anna Quindlen “women have won the right to do as much as men do. They just haven’t won the right to do as little as men do.” I found to be a perfect way to explain the role of a woman in today’s culture.

Cliques No Worse than Ever I would not fully agree with author Roslind Wiseman in this article. I believe her approach was well thought out, but may not be affective if played out. Young girls need to be taught the “good old day rules” of treat others how you want to be treated and words can not hurt you. Teaching our young girls to sit down and write what the most important issue is somewhat unrealistic.

Filmmakers offers Food for Thought and Downsize This! Americans Escalate Their War on Fat. I found these to be somewhat interesting, but over all it is a little bothersome to me. I fully understand the obesity is an issue in America and something sound me changed, but I feel the food offered should be changed and focusing on it over and over again, pointing our fingers at those who are over weight just buts us in the shoes of the “mean girls.” The so called cheeseburger bill is a good idea to protect the corporations by forcing the people to take responsibility for there own actions.

With the rising price of a barrel of oil the debate of offshore drilling is at an all time high. The debate raises the question; Is the environmental risk worth taking to try and fix the rising gas prices?

In January of 1969 American a long the Santa Barbara cost line experience first hand why offshore drilling was baned. A Union Oil Co. platform suffered a blowout causing 200,000 gallons of oil to flow out of earth’s surface and into the ocean water. Because of this thousands of animals including birds, dolphins, and seals to wash up on shore.

The effect that offshore drilling could have on the environment is to big of a risk for American’s to take

For the most part everything in life can be aruged, but this does not mean that everything is meant to be aruged. Somethings like stop signs and warning symbols are just a fact or a safty precation to help keep us safe. But of course there are those people who are very skilled arguers that can find a arguement in everything. The things that make an arugement are things that allow people to have an opinion, but still have a way to back those opinions up!

One of my favorite buildings for its design is once again the Apex Center. The designer of the Apex center took one mountain theme and incorporated it into the 168,500 sq. ft building. Stone plays a big role in pulling the design together, though out the building there are stone floors, stone pliers and in the pool area the designer separates the leisure pools from the lap pools with a large wall that appears to be rocking range but remains functional with built in benches. With the two ice arenas the designer used a mountain landscape painted on the walls. The designer’s constants through out the building help you appreciate the theme more. The design materials really bring that outdoor feeling inside.

Building Analyzing

The building I analyzed is a building that I go to almost everyday. I have never stop to see the buildings language. The building was probably named before it was built because the building itself looks like a mountaintop. The roof on the north side is slightly curved meeting an angle pointed roof coming from the south side. The whole south side of the building is all windows exposing one of the building highlights, an indoor pool. The buildings name is Apex, which means “the upper most point”. The buildings’ exterior is decorated with rocks and water fountains to help bring the top of the mountain to life. The purpose of the building is bringing the outdoors fun inside. With two ice-skating rinks, a fitness gym and much more for a day of family fun.

The Gillette Razor’s design language is modern and sophisticated. They use the design of the razor to sell the product. The curved handle for comfort and gel for an “easy to hang on to” grip is an example of design language. Five blades that “hung each curve” as you shave gives you a sense of smart yet with a vibrate choice of colors and special additions like “added moisture strip” still makes you feel beauty.

Yankee Stadium’s opening day was April 18th 1923 in Bronx New York. It is the home to Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio,Yogi Berra, and Mickey Mantle some of the world’s best baseball players. It was closed for renovation in 1973 and reopened in 1976. On Sunday, September 21, 2008, Yankee Stadium closed its gates for good. Before the game, fans were allowed to walk on the field, and several former Yankees stars attended a ceremony. The Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-3.

They plan to tear Yankee Stadium down sometime in 2009. This is a piece of American history that they will just destroy. There is enough history just in the walls of Yankee Stadium to make it historic. Yankee’s all time best hitter, number 3, Babe Ruth was sold to the New York Yankees in 1919 from the Boston Red Sox for $125,000.

The thought of this building not being around for my children is disappointing. We look for history in museums, bones found in the dirt and in ancient ruins, but we will just sit and watch as a building with so much historic value is destroyed.

movie review

Defiantly Maybe is a romantic comedy about a father telling his daughter about how he met her mother. The main character, Will Hines tells his daughter the stories of his past relationships in her efforts to learn how her mom and dad met. To make it a mystery for his daughter he changed all the names in his story. In the end he revels which mystery girl is her mother and although sad they are not still together she helps her dad come to realize whom he really should be with.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was a twist of tears and laughter though out the whole movie. The message I got from the movie was fun and honesty. Even though some things in his romantic tales I don’ t know I would share with my children, but being honest with your past experience may help them better understand there current life situations.

My Favorite Place

As I sit on my little bench in my favorite place I stop to absorb all that is around me. What do I hear? What do I smell? How does all this make me feel? With the sun beaming through the trees it hits me on the shoulder just enough to keep me warm from the cool breeze in the air. I smell great foods of all kinds. So many different ones they all kind of just mix together and well right now they smell like pizza. I hear lots of chatter from all the people around me. The voices of many different cultures and backgrounds. Children, Adults, seniors, some come to shop, some come to eat, some come from out of town, and I come just for excitement and constant change. I watch as each person walks by and I wonder who they are and what is there story. I see children playing and wonder what will they grow up to be. I see the old man on the street corner asking each passer by for there spare change. I have to wonder how he got there and where he goes when it snows?

The heart of down town. The street you never drive down. The 16th street Mall. Yea what a surprise a girl’s favorite spot a mall! Would you believe me if I told you I have never been in any of the stores, and never been to a club (never not even once). So why do I come. Well sometimes you just have to get away. When I first decided to move to Colorado it was to expand my knowledge of what is out there. To see more then what my home town had to offer. Everyone told me I would not go. Then when I left they all said I would be back. Then when I was expecting my little girl everyone just knew I would be back. But I am still here and I am loving it. I think the city you live in greatly shapes who you are. Did you know that Colorado is one of the most active states? When I first visited here when I was younger I just love it because of the mountains and my dad had lived out here for a short time before him and my mother meet. He would always tell me stories about Colorado and I wanted to be just like him and live in Colorado. Then when I finally moved out here I loved the multi-culture Denver. It is what I think America stands for; the coming together of many to create one.
